Tax season is in full swing, and I am very grateful to say that we at B&G Tax Solutions are extremely busy! This is one time of the year when I must admit, I break my own rule about maintaining a good work/life balance, BUT that is the nature of accounting. I prepare my team as much as possible beforehand for the influx of extra assignments, and then after the major tax deadline has come and gone, things get back to a more steady pace.
I have to say though, there is just something about this time of year that I really enjoy. It makes me so excited to be able to give our clients the peace of mind that comes with knowing their taxes are being taken care of correctly, and they don’t have to worry about anything. I can empathize personally with the stress that running your own business can entail, so being able to lift some of that stress off of our clients, at least in this area, is very personally fulfilling. Like I’ve said before, I’m a numbers guy – I love this stuff!
It also gives me the opportunity to learn even more about our clients as individuals. Since we offer a full range of financial services, we have the opportunity to take care of both a business owner’s business taxes, and their personal taxes. Throughout the year, we get to know about all the big life events – marriage, new babies, new houses, moves, etc., and celebrate right along with them.
At the end of the day, that’s what will matter – not so much what we accomplished, but the people we met along the way that shared those big moments with us. In the midst of such a heavy workload at present, it helps to remember that what we do in my business and how we do it makes such a huge difference in both the business and personal lives of our clients. Money matters. People matter more.
